The Alameda County Superior Court has chosen Mark P. Fickes to serve as a Commissioner

As of March 1, 2023, the firm has changed its name to Cannata, O’Toole, & Olson LLP because we are saying farewell to our law partner of nine years, Mark Fickes. Mark has served as a Pro Tem Judge for the Alameda County Superior Court for the past three years. It was only a matter of time before his talents would be noticed, and we are proud to report the Alameda County Superior has appointed Mark to be a full time, permanent Commissioner.

Mark will be sworn in on March 1, 2023. At that moment, he will become a judicial officer. This means that he can no longer practice law (or receive emails addressed to him as a member of our firm). If you do need to reach him, please contact our office manager, Jessica Toscano at jtoscano@cofolaw.com or at 415.409.8900.

Managing Partner, Therese Cannata states “We’ve had great fun these past nine years trying cases together all over Northern California, strategizing about depositions, and teaching at NITA. We will dearly miss him at our 2023 trials. Thankfully, we can still teach together at NITA programs, and I am thrilled to see an excellent trial lawyer join the bench.”

On behalf of all of us at the firm, Congratulations Commissioner Mark P. Fickes!
